How about The Fourth Awakens.... ???

The Fourth Thread Awakens?

Serious question. Did you guys look at the Hasbro link and flip through to the Bladebuilders line of toys?

I saw it and immediately assumed it was just a parody of the ridiculous consumerism of the Star Wars brand. When it finally dawned on me that it wasn't a parody and was, in fact, real I was really hoping that I'd find a lightsaber noose to hang myself with.

Then I saw that $1000 super star destroyer lego kit and immediately wanted to buy it. I am a shill.

Not an Episode VII comment, but I thought I'd ask about the Clone Wars cartoon.  I'd heard good things about it, and since they seem to be tying in some characters to the new Rebels show, I thought I'd finally sit down and watch.  The kids and I are about 10 episodes in, and I'm...less than impressed.  Maybe too much hype?  Does it get better in later seasons?  There have been some decent episodes, but some leave me scratching my head.  In particular there have been two Jar Jar centric episodes that feature Jar Jar being especially...Jar Jarish.  There's also been at least one big plot discontinuity.  At the end of the previous episode we watched, pirates had kidnapped Dooku, and then spiked the drinks of Obi-Wan and Anakin.  Obi-Wan and Anakin realized this, though, and used the Force to switch their drinks with some pirates.  Yet at the beginning of the next episode, they wake up in a cell, as if they had drunk the spiked drinks.  And then that episode was particularly goofy with Obi-Wan, Anakin and Dooky all tied together with some sort of...laser belt.

Anyway, 10 or so episodes in, and I'm not seeing the reason for the hype.  I'm hoping it gets better....

Season 3 is about where Clone wars becomes less asstastic.

Rebels is awesome.

Yeah, basically this. Sadly, even throughout the strong parts of The Clone Wars it lets itself down now and again with plots that make no sense. It at least portrays Anakin much better than the movies do; he actually comes across as someone who might actually inspire people rather than  a whiny douche.

It's definitely up and down, and even the best plot arc (my opinion of course) which closes out the 5th season has some really clunky writing in it.  I got more attached to the cartoon only characters than I was to the movie characters though, Ahsoka and Ventriss are great.  There also aren't as many plot discontinuities as I thought at first, although the one you mention is and was really jarring to me too, but the series isn't actually in chronological order which I only realised a few eps into season 3 (S3E1 is actually the first or second episode chronologically.  Given you aren't too far into it, it might be worth looking up the chronological order and watching it that way.  In particular it establishes some of the clones much better than the order they aired in.

The other thing it showed me is that the underlying story really has a lot of potential and deserved better than the PT (the whole way that Palps is orchestrating everything).

The last time a Star Wars movie came out I couldn't afford a $400 Lego Super Star Destroyer. Now I can... I'm really worried my willpower won't hold up lol. It's so cool...

Ah crap, now it's $1000.

I always wanted the Lego Death Star. I remember entering a contest to win it and being crushed when I didn't win

Yes, being named Sidious is a s stupid as being called Cruella de Vil. And whilst Vader does mean father in Dutch, it is pronounced differently. It seems more likely to me it came from Invader, which is just as silly as Sidious.

I've always thought that too.

S1 is probably the show's most childish season, and I think that if I were to rewatch it I'd enjoy that one the least. As others said, it gets better from S3 onwards, but whether you'll enjoy it all depends on taste. Overall I'd say it's generally enjoyable later on, with a few great episodes to come.

I would like to see them produce an actual build your own light sabre kit, like the Padawans have to do in in the Clone wars series. where you have to put all the circuitry together, put the hilt together using a kitset of various parts, multiple LEDs for your own blade colour etc.

Do I get the Star Wars nerd award if I admit that I built about a half dozen 'real' lightsabers when in HS and worked at an Ace Hardware?

"What do you need all of these plumbing pieces for?"  "Ummmm.... a small project"  "You're building a bong aren't you"  "<silence>.... yeah... that's it...."

Intensify forward batteries salaries! I don't want anything to get through.

Did I just hear you volunteer to build us all lightsabers?
