Didn’t this happen back in July with Johnson?

Nah, they were leaving of their own accord; this is just (the start of) Hunt's reshuffle.

So... she leaked a document on immigration to a backbencher and the backbencher grassed her up?

Got to love the dig at protestors as 'selfish'. The stunning lack of insight there. Protestors by definition put themselves to severe inconvenience and risk on behalf of others. They are not 'selfish' because it means your taxi driver had to take a ten minute detour. If only people would protest in ways that don't cause anybody any trouble, maybe by sitting at home in their own living room and tutting, but not too loud in case it upsets the neighbours?

ETA - also, it can't be coincidence that the day Truss stands up in Parliament and says 'I made mistakes', this resignation letter says 'I have made a mistake: I accept responsibility: I resign'.

Reads like she’s basically jumping, and telling Truss to jump too.

Is it me or is it weird to write a letter with both “I fucked up and I resign” and also “I have concerns about the government”? It’s hardly a bold move if you were leaving anyway.

It makes total sense if you're an idiot who got caught in a stupid mistake and want to try to pretend this is a principled resignation so you can stand for leader again.

This is turning into an utterly ridiculous shitshow. I've never seen anything remotely like this, and I can't recall any comparable period from British political history, or almost any country which is supposed to be a functioning democracy.

The Conservatives have to get their shit together with some kind of vague coalition of the not-completely-and-totally incompetent (and Hunt and even Schapps are probably in that bracket, and maybe Mordaunt on a very good day), or they have to just give up and call a general election.
