A Horse Named Stranger
I mean Ken fucking (it's his middle name) Buck called out her incompetence and insanity and fell out of favour with the MAGA crowd and he essentially had to resign. So while some mainstream conservatives might have grown as tired of her as you and the rest of us, the main chunk of her party hasn't. At its summit, the elevation is 1,686 feet (514 m) above sea level and 825 feet (251 m) above the surrounding area. Stone Mountain is well known for not only its geology, but also the enormous rock relief on its north face, the largest bas-relief artwork in the world.[1] The carving, completed in 1972, depicts three Confederate leaders, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Zorral
Spokesheads for the fascist rethug/dominionists dislike the national security supplemental bill. April 20, 2024 HEATHER COX RICHARDSON APR 21, 2024 https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/april-20-2024? Quote .... leading Russian politician Dmitry Medvedev had his own reaction to the House’s passage of the national security supplemental bill with aid for Ukraine. He vowed that Russia would win the war anyway and added: “[C]onsidering the russophobic decision that took place I can't help but wish the USA with all sincerity to dive into a new civil war themselves as quickly as possible. Which, I hope, will be very different from the war between North and South in the 19th century and will be waged using aircraft, tanks, artillery, MLRS, all types of missiles and other weapons. And which will finally lead to the inglorious collapse of the vile evil empire of the 21st century—the United States of America.” On the subject of the Georgia Mountains -- I must add, that the Blue Ridge Mountains have some of the most beautiful landscapes one can find anywhere. Martell Spy
Bipartisan outrage boils over at threat to Johnson’s speakership “These fringe people think they have the high ground. They do not,” said Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas). https://www.politico.com/news/2024/04/21/bipartisan-outrage-mike-johnson-speakership-00153527 Quote Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) said on ABC’s “This Week” that he would vote to table a motion to vacate through the end of this Congress and predicted that Johnson might have a “few progressive Democrats” voting to keep him in his job: “He did the right thing here and he deserves to keep his job to the end of this term.” In another sign of Democrats’ opposition to getting rid of Johnson, Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) said on “Fox News Sunday” that what Greene, Massie and Gosar are “trying to accomplish by removing the Speaker of the House in this very moment after October 7 would only embolden China, it would only embolden Russia. It would only embolden Iran.” Words like those have Johnson’s backers feeling more and more confident. Rep. Mike McCaul (R-Texas), a key committee chairman who sought to convince Johnson to put the aid bill on the floor, said Johnson’s ability to put the legislation ahead of his own job prospects “garnered a lot of respect” from not only Republicans but “also from the Democratic side.” “We’re in a bipartisan era in a strange way where Democrats will be able to back the speaker on the other side of the aisle and not have him vacated out of the chair,” McCaul said on “This Week.” He said he believed Johnson is “in good shape, I really do.” Tears of Lys and LongRider

So… I was just at the Grocery Store picking up wine for a houseguest staying with us for the weekend. I’m standing in line to buy the wine and there is a guy at the next register who looks exactly like Colin Kaepernick. Since staying silent isn’t my forte I said “Sir?” He looked at me and I said, “Has anyone told you that you are the spitting image of Colin Kaepernick?”. He said, “Every day of my life.” I said, “A man to be respected.” I think that was him. What Colin Kaepernick was doing here… I have no idea. How random. The trapped-in-amber surroundings that evoke New York City’s more crime-ridden past. The lack of control. The details of a case in which he is accused of falsifying business records to conceal a payoff to a porn star to keep her claims of an affair with him from emerging in the 2016 election. .... .... The Anti-Targ
I imagine [enough] Democrats would vote to keep Johnson seated if only because the next speaker to appear from this Republican House members would probably be even worse (from the Democrat perspective). The only way to avoid that would be for some Republicans to break and become independents to strip the Republicans of the majority and undertake to vote in a Democratic Speaker. I don't see that happening. So I expect it will be Johnson all the way to the swearing in of the next Congress.

With a majority this slender, Republicans are just a couple of arrests or vindictive resignations from losing their majority - before the election. They much preferred throwing bombs from the sidelines. SeanF and Prince of the North
