Wikipedia is usually more accurate than ChatGPT. What do you personally think Michelle Obama's qualifications for US President are, apart from the Constitutional minimums? I also liked gas under $2 dollars a gallon, no new wars in 4 years, lower minority unemployment, rule of law, an actual strategic petroleum reserve, energy independence, some border enforcement, 50% lower steak costs, a media that actually questions power, progress towards peace in the Middle East instead of permanent war for the arms manufacturers, no war in Ukraine to benefit arms manufacturers, and probably a few dozen other substantive things. But if you're submerged in the CNN/WaPo/AP/MSNBC billionaire owned curated media feed, well you're not the only one being bamboozled. But I'm sure you're heart is in the right place. About knowing the USA and its people? Works endless hours to do the right things, keeps her cool under all fires, can quote the constitution word for word. Spent hours with leaders of state all over the world, and with their wives and families too (never underestimate the info that passes between women), her wit, her sense of humor, her elegance, grace and dignity, and o yes she can dance. (Can you?) Even knowing the jokers that insist she can't do anything when she's done thousands of times more than the jokers have and been a success at it. Also beautiful. Yeah, and that was dumb as well. She has not had a single job that is in the same sphere as president. Being famous and personable and decent isn't and shouldn't be enough. I'd take her over the other 2 in a heartbeat, but that's because they are both absolutely terrible candidates. Jace, Extat

Sure, there are likely to be more qualified individuals, but politics seldom empowers the brightest in a society. Michelle has a ton of star power, which goes far in elections. She’s a candidate that would be able to rally a sizeable portion of the US population yo her cause. At a time when the Republican Party is actively embracing extremist ideology, she would be a vital force in standing up to them.

Which the jokers are -- NOT. First off Z my Truth is that I Am Beautiful. Stop hating. What's your definition of endless hours? I'd settle for a 40 hour work week with a few weeks off so 2000 hours a year. We're not going to see her time cards, but if we could, would you bet the over or under? Not aware that Michelle Obama is a Constitutional scholar. Really I thought that was BHO's credential. But maybe she moonlights as political philosopher, when she's not working endlessly on the Right Things? Perhaps she's witty, elegant, graceful, and dignified, and can dance. Graceful is about the only one that in my mind is a potential qualification for head of state. Though witty is great for elected politicians. Look at Joe's great sense of humor. Oddly, the Obamas have gone from about low millions or less before being in govt net worth to 10's to 100's of millions over the last two decades. Personally I haven't accumulated enough to cover my future needs for just myself, but I would think that paragons of virtue would prefer to share their excess money with the downtrodden instead of buying a swanky place on the Vineyard. How many refugees could their Vineyard house hold? So selfish.

Contrast with Stalin's farming policies. They did, but he was also told he couldn't have the things completely fitted with marble and other weird shit. Afterwards he made them like his penthouse, overspent dramatically, and the flights were mostly really short. He got everything wrong in an industry where you need to be really cost conscious so no wonder that shit went tits up in short order. I think the company only lasted a few years and he spent way more than he had to do so. I've seen estimates that if he never did a thing and just invested his massive inheritance conservatively he'd be worth close to what he claims, but fuck up after fuck up suggests he's probably not even worth 20% of what he claims. Oh, and on top of that, dipshit invested in a lot of golf courses which is one of the worst investments possible. Edited January 7 by Mr. Chatywin et al. Also, not for nothing but there would be fucking uproar on this board if more qualified candidates in another field were getting overlooked for some of the reasons trying to justify this here. The hypocrisy is rife. I’m not American, so I have no say in the matter. I’m not even in disagreement with what you are saying. The unfortunate reality is that the current political landscape in the US demands an immediate response. So yes, it boils down to a popularity contest. When a non-trivial segment of the US population believes that Sanders is a full blown commie, it becomes clear that something major needs to change before better candidates can be fielded. I do recall someone writing a take down of Trump that said as of whenever it was, let's say 2016 because he wasn't the same kind of controversial in 2011 or so... He inherited X dollars Y years ago and his supposed net worth at the later point was roughly the same as the S&P return over the same time period. Now that's not counting taxes or living expenses. Really, if you can live well, pay all your taxes, and still net the gross market returns over time, and you're not in Congress, you're doing pretty well. I think he inherited money, and didn't piss it away. His net worth growth rate over the last 30 years has nothing over the Bidens, if you want to compare that. Probably the difference between 30 years of graft in government and 4 years in power as the enemy of the billionaires who own the mass media. Or maybe Biden is above reproach and I'm just reading too many things that have all the hallmarks of Russian disinformation.
