Pitch your idea for the plot of an ASOIAF video game

Recommended Posts

Mine would follow a knight of House Dayne. Dawn would be stolen from Starfall and you go on an adventure through the Dornish marches and the Reach, tracking the sword down. Along the way your reputation grows, and you eventually come into the service of House Gardener. Majors hubs would be Oldtown and Highgarden. With a DLC going to the Arbor.

Spotted Pate the pig boy was the hero of a thousand ribald stories: a good-hearted, empty-headed lout who always managed to best the fat lordlings, haughty knights, and pompous septons who beset him. Somehow his stupidity would turn out to have been a sort of uncouth cunning; the tales always ended with Spotted Pate sitting on a lord's high seat or bedding some knight's daughter.

I actually kind of though this one could work, from Reddit just three days ago:

My pipe dream is a game centered around Bloodraven during his tenure at the Night’s watch from recruit to Lord Commander

At your disposal you can explore the Gift and beyond the wall, engaging in various activities and fighting many enemy types (giants, wildlings, ice spiders, wights, deserters, etc)

You can utilize various abilities and play styles - swordplay, archery, and the most unique…Skinchanging

Kinda functioning like Assassins Creed games with the playable bird companion acting as recon, but beyond that, as you progress the warging skill tree you can take over bigger and cooler animal types.

The endgame could entail you becoming Lord Commander and you have the whole Night’s Watch at your disposal - working with the Builders to customize Castle Black, the Stewards to customize your character, Rangers to carry out missions beyond the Wall

Missions could be searching for Wildling camps, unearthing first men tombs, finding Weirwood groves, hunting Nights Watch deserters, etc

The final mission of the game would be you finding the cave that Bloodraven ends up in during ADWD

On the flip side of that, playing a wildling bent on becoming King-beyond-the-Wall (maybe play as the Horned Lord or Raymun Redbeard? Or Bael the Bard...), in a Shadow of Mordor-style game where you go around fighting and defeating rivals, turning some into allies or subordinates while trying to balance factional conflicts within the ranks of your followers, etc.

Games have plots now?

Actually, I do know someone who was an understudy for the role of ‘long piece’ in the stage production of Tetris: the Musical.

Didn’t pay much apparently, but it was a nice sideline …

You kidding? Shit mortal kombats story at this stage is approaching lotr territory  and its a goddamn fighting game!!

2 ideas

1)mass effect style sellsword/hedge knight...travel all over westeros , essos and even beyond with a small select group of mercs taking work where you find it

2) command and conquer style strategy BUT the battles are all based on a total war style game engine!!!! Start from the north, a free city, slavers bay ,quarth or even the lesser known factions like sanor , leng or the  summer islands and the goal to is to rule planetos!!

Can't be done before the series is complete but I would like to see a Total War ASOIAF or something similar.  Hat would be kind of cool wouldbe if you started with a minor house and had the kind of timetable where you could rise (or fall or just kind of get by) as the events of Westeros' history unfold and the sort of issues you have to deal with would reflect the actual position of power that your house has.  One playthrough you might be opposing the Conquest whereas in another you may have your house and bannermen to control but it's your overlord making hte big decisions and you're either toeing the line or plotting rebellion. As TW does with their games there could be expansions and DLCs that focus on specific periods such as the Conquest or the Dance or the creation of the Wall and even Mance Rayder's quest to unite the Northern tribes and turn them south.  Truely though, Westeros is as rich a setting as any and just about any time of game you want to play could be set there.

That's actually a wonderful idea, that could work very well as a videogame. Also, the Wall is a setting that is not too expensive to replicate (unlike KL or Oldtown), and it'd be relatively easy to avoid conflicting with the established lore.

Sleepy Jack would probably still be the lord commander when Bloodraven arrives. He'd be a nice antagonist. It would also be cool seeing a not blind Maester Aemon as a significant NPC, and there could be guest appearances from young Gared, Wynton Stout or Denys Mallister.

Don't forget Dunk when Bloodraven arrives at the Wall. Maybe he hangs around for Bloodraven's first ranging or something.

I like the gameplay of Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders,

The hack and slash element is a little bit repetitive but the journey and customisation of building your units is cool. As it's hybrid of strategy and 3rd person.

As for the plot, it would have to be a campaign before or outside the main series in my opinion. But there are plenty if conflict zones to play with. Id like Roberts rebellion as it could be a good way for George to reveal the story of what actually happened.

This is the only acceptable answer.

Bullshit. How about Skyrim on steroids?

You’re a the bastard of a Great House, and you choose which one at the start of.the game (each house has different perks. Baratheons earn warrior skills faster, Lannisters earn persuasion skills faster, etc). You can travel as a hedge knight, you can earn chains at the Citadel, and maybe you can establish yourself in one of the regions as a knightly house. Maybe it’s during one of the wars too, and you decide who wins, except then there are actual consequences depending on which side you choose.

Hey! Having the two Winterhold guards wearing the imperial uniform instead was a riveting, fast-paced, in-your-face change which really hammered home the point that... Uh... You cleared out a few forts?
