US Politics: Ballot Mainetenance

One thing that crossed my mind, although it’s probably ridiculous: what if Dems and Republicans were to agree to have neither Biden nor Trump in the election. That way a fresh candidate could show up on both sides.

Both Trump and Biden come with their share of baggage and it would once again devolve into an election of “who is less repulsive” as opposed to which candidate has a better platform.

I was just playing a Grand Theft Auto V mission where you can shoot wolves from a helicopter and the characters are pointing out it's the single most moronic idea that anyone has come up with (more disturbing is when they hit on the idea of shooting illegal immigrants in the same way).

GTA5 came out in 2013 and it's bizarre how much of the utterly insane stuff in it has been completely superseded by real-life events, or almost. Like if Elon Musk sabotaged the latest Facebook app so it made Zuckerberg's head explode live on TV, would anyone be that surprised?

Yes, the way things are going Elon is more likely to sabotage a twitter app.

Yeah, that's not good for Jack Smith or the prosecution; it means that that part of the trial will likely delay other parts entirely, well into the election cycle - which makes it more likely that all of it will be postponed.

Well, Meiselas thinks it's not a big problem now.

Rich fux have been hiring planes from which to hunt deer and other animals for decades.  My dad, the pilot, was hired to do that and after the first two jobs refused to ever do it again.

Various places put in place laws prohibiting the practice but I guess that's over too.

Pretty sure this is less GTA predicting the future and more... reacting to the present ie Sarah Palin's "you should be able to hunt wolves from helicopters, dontchaknow." Though the illegal immigrant thing is, admittedly, a bit of a step beyond that, even for Palin at the time.

Just a daily reminder that, yes, conservatives have always been this monstrous and stupid.

This is not how anything works, I'm afraid.

First, there are no 'Dems and Republicans' that could agree such a thing: second, it's anti-democratic.

New evidence showed up that Trump and Ronna Romney McDaniel(chair of RNC, niece of Mitt) tried to influence the certification of the 2020 election in Wayne County Michigan. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4372940-recordings-reportedly-show-trump-pressuring-michigan-canvassers-not-certify-2020-vote/

So the Supremes are hitting on the brakes by declining to hear that absolute immunity argument before the DC court of appeals.

Would it be reasonable to suspect SCOTUS doesn't want to have to hear the case before the election? If Trump loses the election then SCOTUS can rule without being accused of interfering in the election to cause his loss. If Trump wins he's once again above prosecution until his term ends, and then SCOTUS can either rule when there's a new president, or Trump will have managed to become president for life and there will be no need for SCOTUS to rule.

Problems of Americans: high Gini index ,it's a coefficient about inequalities , it's very high in United States because there are the wealthiest billionare people ,they pay much less taxes than the rest of the population, the working class pays more taxes than them.
US is the only western country that doesn't provide universal health care, some treatments are very expensive .
It's very easy to buy military equipment in United States, where you can buy weapons in supermarkets, the free access to the weapons is related to the problem of mass shootings in the school.
About energy:  it's necessary to produce nuclear energy , it's the only way to reduce carbon emissions, investments to produce renewable energy are important, but renewable energy is only good to spare energy produced by gas turbine during the peaks.
Is there a president that wants to raise taxes to billionaire, try to fix the health care problem? It seems US politics is only focused on Biden and Trump scandals.

Check above.

They don't have to. If the DC court affirms Chutkan's ruling (it will), that there's no such thing as absolute Presidential immunity and lifts the stay (!!) and returns the case to her. Then case is back on track without any delay whatsoever. Then Trump's team will (have to) request an expedited hearing by the Supremes, and they can basically say: Why? We're good. Let the case play out. You could appeal an convinction, we will see you then. FWIW, that's what Conway thinks is gonna happen.

But then again, he also thinks the Supremes could very well uphold the Colorado ruling and bar Trump from running and that Santa is real and lives in forest of North America alongside Big Foot and Elvis (ok, not really, but you get my point).

My thought too.  The denial of Cert will simply crush Trump.

Nope, they are still trying to sanitize Bill Barr. With all the justified criticism of Conway, he at least quit the GOP and only speaks of his former party.

So that's is at least something.

Santorum is gone, that's good. He's just repulsive. :ack:
