Having now watched Top Gun: Maverick...I enjoyed it well enough, but do not understand the hype at all. Yes, it's a much of a recruitment film as the first one was, but the first one had at least the hint of an actual story behind the characters and the action. This one has significantly less of that.

I'm guessing you didn't see it in a theater.

No, but that is irrelevant to my comment. Sure  it's technically amazing, but it lacks any actual story...

You don't watch Top Gun Maverick for the story. You watch it in as big of a screen and loud of a system as possible and just enjoy the popcorn.

@Tywin et al. watching on a plane only means you had the exact opposite of all of the above.

Watched the first two episodes of The Last of Us  have to say it was good. It felt really intense the whole time. Of course I enjoyed Lady Mormont.. 4-5-6-7-8 fuck you.  I was worried it would feel too much like The Walking Dead and so far it doesn't.

Someone in my family had subtitles turned on and I have to say I kinda liked it. There were small things that it showed me that I missed.

How's that movie gonna peel your face off if you don't watch it in a theater? C'mon, man!

Of course it has a story. The story is: Top Gun... but older (and dryer).

I saw it on a plane. Beat that!

Also the movie is massively overrated.

Yeah, yeah, "To teach Tom Cruise a lesson". We know.

I didn’t think very much of Top Gun Maverick, but I can acknowledge that it’s clearly more of a sensory experience than a movie, and watching it at home is probably not the way to get the most out of it.

It had a rubbish story and bad acting and was pretty dumb and corny, you really need flashy dog fights to allow you to ignore that

Atm watching the Norwegian Series: Beforeigners.

Premise of the show is a bit weird: Folks from three different eras (Stoneage, Vikings (early Medieval time period) and from the 19th century) arrive in modern day Norway. A detective and his Viking colleague investigate the murder of a woman, who had seemingly arrived from the stone age.

I find it to be quite an enjoyable watch thus far.

I never really liked Fred either. She gets better at times but largely how she interacts with others on the show and not because of her specifically. Which is a shame as Amy Acker is a LOT of fun as an actress.

Wesley, however, kind of ends up stealing the show. And I definitely did not expect that.

Not that it matters in the least but I too could not bear Fred.  I have disliked every character the actress has played, that I ever saw anyway, either.

She was a lot of fun in Alias and Person of Interest.

There’s nothing wrong with her as a character or as an archetype, the team 100% needs what she brings to the table. I really like the dynamics she has with other characters and the personality traits she brings out in them. It’s refreshing for the team to have her as a foil character and it’s superbly written. But she’s horribly annoying and her voice and manner of speech remind me of nails on a chalk board.

Can I be the one to tell @Tywin et al. how sad Tom Cruise feels about the lesson the night after Top Gun 2 got 6 oscar nominations? :P

So you all hate Star Wars (the original) as well?
