I think it's worth a nod for limited series and lead actress, at the least.

:agree:

And it turns out that Endeavour's final season is very very good. I wasn't expecting that.

Finally watched the Mario movie. Good fun. Nothing deep or complicated or in any way pushing any boundary whatsoever, but it managed to be an entertaining tribute to the games without trying to make the premise into something it's not, while still functioning for the needs of a movie. Isn't gonna live hugely long in the memory, but I enjoyed it.

Plus it's very pretty to look at.

So the final season of Jack Ryan came out today? Caught me completely by surprise. I don't remember seeing any trailers for it and I feel like I watched the last season a few weeks ago.

I saw one trailer for it. I watched the 1st episode earlier. I feel that this show has been on a downhill slope since season 1. But I'm watching it since it's the last.

Bugger, I didn't know the last season of Yellowstone was divided into two parts. Just finished what is available of it and was shocked by the ending. And there's not even a date set for the second part yet?

Also, apart from the spin-offs, there is also going to be a sequel, but without Costner?

Same, S1 was really good, S2 almost bad, only one to go so might as well watch it.

I’m watching The Idol and contrary to expectations, I don’t hate it. The male lead is atrocious and pretty much weighs down the entire series. But Lily Rose Depp is actually excellent which was a pleasant surprise for me. The writing has a lot of potential even though it’s also balancing on the same edge of depth and commercialization the story is about. It was an intriguing watch.

It’s an absolutely abysmal show. The further it goes on, the worse it gets.

Well episode 4 was definitely a slide downward the slope. But I do think it had something before it was suffocated with shock value and superficial tropes.

Season 3 -- I never finished watching.  I guess ... JR got back to D.C. all right then? :P

Instead of the second ep of Witcher, which is what I'd planned to watch, I watched the first ep. of this season 4.  Alas, I know we are going to get some prolonged torture scenes in the future.  But we also get Mexico, always a plus. And, maybe?  that same Asian casino with the Komodo dragons in Skyfall.

I saw 'This world won't bring me down' (Questo mondo non mi rendera cattivo) on Netflix. It's a series about a 39 year old comic artist living in a poor neighbourhood in the outskirts of Rome. For a 6 episode cartoon series, I thought it had far more complexity and depth than it had any right to. Much recommended (and, if possible, I recommend the original Italian dubbing with subtitles).

Emily the Criminal , definitely worth watching , Aubrey Plaza is watchable in anything so that’s why I took a chance on this movie. It’s a nice story that touches on modern working practices and the way the economy totally fucks people over to the point where the only option is to break the law. It’s nothing game changing and I’ll probably forget I ever watched it but I liked it.

Black Mirror: Joan is Awful

Yeah this confirmed my feelings about Black Mirror post Netflix. It was entertaining, fun, pretty enjoyable, famous faces…

.. but it’s insight and commentary on technology were not that deep or interesting. It was mainly just going for the entertainment vibe.. which is fine but that’s kind of how I feeling about most of these episodes.

Jaws, a holiday weekend tradition. The Mayor really is an all-time villain. Also an example of the movie being a lot better than the book.

One of my all time favorites. Saw it on IMAX last year and it almost felt like seeing it for the first time. I also finally met someone from the film (I go to a lot of horror conventions, Comic-Con’s, etc) in Richard Dreyfuss. Unfortunately he was a bit of a dick. One of the only bad interactions I’ve ever had with a celebrity tbh.

I've heard that. It's really a coin flip if the actor you like is nice or an asshole. I always enjoy hearing the good and bad stories from my friends and family who work in the industry. Now if one of them can just meet Jeff Goldblum god damnit! I want to know what he's like because I'm guessing weirder than Nic Cage, but financially more responsible.

Anyways, I'd love to see Jaws in IMAX. Fuck, I'd love to see the very shitty Jaws 4 in IMAX. However, don't waste your time with The Black Demon. I wanted it to be good, but it sucks.
